I ain't Marchin' Anymore
(Phil Ochs/ Evan Eleven)

Well, I marched to the Battle of New Orleans at the end of the early British War
a young land started growin' and young blood started flowin' but I ain't Marchin' Anymore

And I killed my share of Indians in a thousand different fights, I was there at the Little Bighorn
I heard many men a-lyin', I saw many more a-dyin' but I ain't Marchin' Anymore

It's always the old to lead us to the war, always the young to fall
now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun and tell me, is it worth it at all?

Well, I stole California from the Mexican land and fought in the bloody Civil War
yes, I even killed my brothers and so many others but I ain't Marchin' Anymore

And I marched to the battle of the German trench in a war that was supposed to end all wars
well, I must have killed a million men and now they want me back again but I ain't Marchin' Anymore

Then I flew the final mission in the Japanese sky, I set off the mighty mushroom roar
and I saw the bodies burnin' and I knew that I was learnin' that I ain't Marchin' Anymore

It's always the rich to lead us to the war, always the poor to fall
now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun and tell me, is it worth it at all?

Then I rolled over the desert to the Muslim land to fight the generals' greedy oil wars
now I think I'm gettin cancer and they won't give me no answers and now I ain't Marchin' Anymore

And now the President will say yer on the terrorist side if you dare to ask just what we're fightin' for
then call it peace or call it treason, call it love or call it reason
but I ain't Marchin' Anymore
no I ain't Marchin' Anymore
